My paystub indicates that I received a cash advance. What is that about?
poweranni asked:
As I understand it, a cash advance is when you need a loan immediately, and it is to be repaid in your next paycheck. I never borrowed money from my employer, yet it is showing that I repaid a cash advance for some arbitrary amount, $28.11. What kinds of schemes are going on here?
I looked it over again, and I noticed that on my first paystub, the 28.11 were the state taxes that were withheld. In the second paystub I "paid it back."

You'll have to ask your employer to explain it.
You will need to talk to payroll and they should be able to help you resolve this issue. Could this be a garnishment? Have you had a judgement against you?
28.11? that is a very odd amount to be a cash advance
it must be something else the pay stub did not have a name for, ask your pr dept
Do you work at a retail place, and buy something but have it charged to your paycheck, or maybe work someplace that serves meals and charge a meal? If not, ask your employer what it's for.
They may have Over Paid you the week before (?) and the only way they can balance the books is to say it was the repayment of a cash advance. Talk to the accounting people at work.
Good luck.
